A darling of Shakespeare, beautiful Verona is the literary home of Romeo and Juliet. The medieval families of Montague and Capulet immortalised in the tragic play did actually exist and some buildings relating to the Montagues are still present.
Sorry to disappoint, but the place purporting to have been Juliet's house in Verona was not actually where she lived. However, it’s still worth suspending reality for a while and stepping out onto the balcony to see if Romeo turns up.
Another of the must-see Verona sights is the Arena, a largely intact Roman amphitheatre which is now the spectacular setting for outdoor summer operas. Smaller Roman relics include the stone bridge that crosses the river by the Roman theatre whose remains are partly beneath a house.
The city’s narrow streets house many cafes and restaurants which offer cheaper fare than the touristy ones by the Arena, although admittedly the views are less impressive. Life in Verona is laidback and elegant, so expect to see some well-heeled Italians on a post-dinner passeggiata.
Verona Airport is a little out of town, so you’ll need to take a bus to get to your Verona hotel, apartment or B&B. Book with Booking.com for the best choice.
Very clean city with wider main streets than expected.
Very clean city with wider main streets than expected. Doesn't have the traffic mayhem of Mlan. Lots to do within easy reach of town. Try and get to a concert either at the Arena or Opera House - both walking distance from main Piazza.Good clothes shopping. I ate at Emanuel Cafe on Piazza Bra on several occasions and was not disappointed by food or service . Hop on Off bus is always a good way to start.

A great way to see Verona is hop-on, hop-off bus tours. You buy a 24-hour ticket, do the circuit once to identify areas you want to explore further then travel the circuit again getting on and off at the stops you previously identified.

Beautiful city with so much to see and do.
Lots of great, moderately priced restaurants.
Relais Ponte Pietra was conveniently located to walk to most sites.
Great restaurants withing 100 yds of B&B.
Wonderful nightime market in the Arena piazza-with lots of food options, too.
I do not give 10’s lightly, but this place deserved it. All communication was immediate and helpful. The premises were spotless. The bathroom was twice the usual size and completely modern. The free parking space was next door to the modern building. An outdoor patio was available and the wifi was fine. He even supplied an assortment of cold drinks/beer at nominal cost (1 euro) in a small cooler in the common area. And the apt was decorated in a stylish way. This was easily one of the nicest places I have stayed at in Italy.
Lovely hotel, walking distance from the train station and the city centre. The room was better than expected. Large comfortable bed, clean and spacious bathroom. We even had a view of the river. The aircon was great. Breakfast was included and I must say that it was one of the best breakfasts we had in Italy. Fantastic spread! I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Verona.
Everything about this apartment is exceptional! The location could not have been better! The apartment itself was beautiful, spacious and very clean. Our amazing host Elisa made everything so easy! The apartment is definitely the standard of a 5 star hotel. We were so happy we chose to stay here and have recommended it to all our friends that are planning a visit to Verona.
Hotel Rossi is close walk to the train station. It is a great location if you are wanting to take advantage of the rail networks from Verona to day trip anywhere in Northern Italy. Very friendly desk staff and quick check-in and check-out. Nice room with good shower pressure and with soft bed. Also - it was a very clean room. It has an average Italian breakfast included.
The best room we had in our entire month long trip in Italy. Amazing apartment, very spacious with all the amenities we needed. They went above and beyond and even offered us secured parking for our car. Check in was very easy. location is a quick walk to the city center and the best restaurants in Verona. We couldn't be happier. But my fav part is the bed is so comfy

The hotel is located along a great street in Verona and is a short walk to all of the sights and restaurants within the city. Our room was spacious, updated, and clean. The staff were all very helpful and attentive, and even offered to call a dinner reservation ahead for us. Overall, this is a beautiful, quaint, boutique hotel.
This is a great location if you have a car. Easily parked in the lot across the street for free. Easy 20 minute walk to the center. Very nice hotel with a fantastic breakfast. If I arrived by train I would stay in the center, but with a car it was perfect for us. Very big room and biggest/best shower we had in Italy.
This stunning small hotel was a highlight of my Italy trip! Decorated in modern Italian, antiques and kitsch with a lovely breakfast spread. The bed was so comfy I did not want to leave. Staff was welcoming and fun as I tried to use my basic Italian-- they, of course, spoke perfect English. Verona is a sweet town.
Everything. Its has a lot of details, its better than a hotel. Iwe love kitchen, so comfortable with a nespresso machine and they have left capsules, new bathroom, beautiful decoration. Bed extra comfortable. This is the best apartment we have been in italy, and its the unique you pay the right price for it.
The Hotel Accademia is centrally located to many of the sites in Verona. The room was a good size, had good closet space and the mattress was exceptional - I would have brought it home! We didn't particularly like the decor of the room, but it's in good condition. The air conditioning works well.
Beautiful, stylish and exceptionally clean. Fantastic location to see Verona from. Restored stone building offering modern luxury. Very quiet. Check in is tricky - follow the instructions and all will be good. Brilliant owners saved the day. Favorite hotel on this Italian trip.
This is a beautiful little boutique hotel in Verona. Public transportation is literally outside the front door, as well as many options for food. The staff was great, the room was very nice, and the view from the balcony was gorgeous! We would definitely stay here again!
Our stay was simply outstanding! Absolutely every need was taken care of - it was better than a 5 star hotel. So many special touches to add to the comfort and make guests feel special. Trust me, you won't find better in Verona.... no matter how much you pay!
Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of Verona - right opposite the arena. Great spot for restaurants, shopping and not far from Juliet’s balcony. Loved the location and staff were great.
Location is great, the room is really big compared to another places stay in Italy. Common area as well is quite nice. Angie was really nice I would stay here again for sure
